Breaking the Skin

This class will explore the possibilities available when cold working of an object is taken into account from the beginning of the creative process. Students will quickly learn how to handle the tools and equipment of the cold shop and a wide range of cold working techniques will be investigated, including grinding, polishing, wheel cutting, sandblasting, cold painting and hand finishing. Beginning to intermediate level.

This one-day seminar class is for those who wish to examine and explore their current work and further develop their individual approach to design and making. This class is limited to 8 students so that all may participate in presentations and discussions. All skill levels.

The Glass Buffet : Survey of Glassmaking Techniques
Pilchuck Glass School

This class is for those who wish to be introduced to a variety of ways of working with glass. Glassblowing will be an integral part of this workshop, however, the class will also look at other ways of working with glass through the introduction and exploration of the complimentary techniques of hot casting, kilnforming and cold working. Printmaking will also be introduced at a fundamental level. Beginning to intermediate level.
